Import for UDDF

Post by AndyDragon »

Sven, are there plans for UDDF import? I'm looking into a few standards for the downloader library I'm working on for the Pelagic computers. One standard I looked at was UDDF. Another is an internal format which is still open source.

Note, I will only look at open source formats. I have no use for a closed system with the possibility of royalties in the future. Anyone who knows what happen with GIF should have a clear idea why closed and/or copyright formats are completely and utterly doomed to fail outside of the owner's own personal use, i.e. the DCDML which seems to have fallen by the wayside...

Hi Andy

Yes, I'll release tomorrow an update with basic UDDF import support (dive profile, depth, divetime) and full UDCF import support. I'll improve this import in future updates, because UDDF is quite complex.

That's awesome. I will be releasing a alpha of the Pelagic download to UDDF utility soon which means people can start with that as a means to skip OceanLog completely.
