Hello
Among the various import formats, there is no CSV format with delimited fields, with the possibility of 'associating' the fields with those present in the DB. Don't you think this functionality that is effectively present in other software can be useful?
Thank you

Re: Import from CSV
Hello
You can copy and paste column by column from Excel into the logbook table editor:

Please make sure that all numeric data is copied in metric units.
Kind regards,
Sven

Re: Import from CSV
I have my logbook in Excel with about 1500 dives. Is there a more convenient way than copy/pasting 1500 lines?
Even if I would do it via copy/paste, as far as I understand, before I copy/paste I would have to arrange the columns in my excel file in a way that it fits to the column headings, am I right?

Re: Import from CSV
You select and copy one column at a time, but all 1500 rows. That way you do not have to arrange the columns and you have to repeat it only a few times, depending on how many columns you have. So for example, you select all dive numbers in Excel (click into the first cell, then Ctrl-Shift-DownArrow), Ctrl-C (Copy).
Switch to Diving Log, add 1500 new rows, click into the first cell of the Number column and Ctrl-V. Repeat for each data column.
Please note that all data in the table editor of Diving Log has to be entered in metric units.

Re: Import from CSV
Thnaks a lot for the fast reply. I found another way meanwhile by directly copying all data into tha database by using MC Access. Seem that it worked as well.
Re: Import from CSV
It seems that I did something wrong, because whenever I open my logbook now, I get the error message:
"Für mindestens einen erforderlichen Parameter wurde kein Wert angegeben".
Which parameters are required, which ones are optional?
(I speak German, but I am writing in English since this is the English forum)
Thanks,
Jens

Re: Import from CSV
I found the problem. For unclear reasons (lets call it user failure), during my copy/paste actions with MS Access, a form called "Einfügefehler" was created which is of course invisible in Diving Log. I just erased this form with MS Access, the error message is gone now.
Re: Import from CSV
Alles klar, freut mich zu hören das es geklappt hat.
