Software very very slow

Post by thetib »

Hello,
For a few months now I have had a problem with the slowness of the software.
Indeed, it takes up to two minutes to open.
It is extremely slow to use, it takes 10 to 15 seconds to switch from one Dive to another.
It is also extremely slow when importing my new Dives.

When I want to import photos it's even slower

In short, for me it is almost unusable!
Do some of you have the same problem as me?
Is there a solution?

Tks

Hello

Where is your logbook file stored, is it on a network drive or on the local PC? How big is your logbook file? Any security software installed beside Windows Defender?

Kind regards,
Sven

Hi, thanks for your answer

Originally my logbook was on my synology nas but because of the slowdown I transferred everything to my local disk
So now the logbook is on my local disk and there is still a very big slowdown
The logbook is 45 Mb
My pc is protected by Windows defender

OK, strange. Windows Defender is normally not causing problems and 45 MB is also fine. Can you try to create a new empty logbook (File > New Logbook) to see if that makes a difference?

Another possible issue is the logbook layout. If you're using any custom modified layout, please send the .lay file from the Diving Log documents folder, sub folder "Layouts" and I'll see if it is somehow broken. If you want I can also check the logbook file, but I don't think this is the reason.

You can try also this: File > Logbook Maintenance > Compress Logbook

Maybe the photos attached to dives are stored on the NAS and causing the slowdown?

Hi
The problem was probably due to the fact that everything is stored on my nas
Yesterday evening I had moved my logbook on my local disk with the same problem of slowdown, but this morning miracle everything is more fluid
Why I don't know!

But the main thing is that everything works again

So from now on I will leave my logbook on my local disk and my media files on my nas. This will allow me in case of reinstallation not to have to recreate all the paths to the photos and videos

Thanks again for your help
